Your charity registration number
Updated
The first field on the form is CRA Registration Number. It identifies your charity on every receipt.
The format
The number is 15 characters: nine digits, then RR, then four digits. For example:
123456789RR0001
The field help says "Your 15-character CRA business number".
What happens to it
- It prints on the receipt as Charitable Registration #, in capital letters.
- The free daily receipt is counted per registration number. See Free tier.
- If you are signed in, it is saved and filled in next time.
Common mistakes
- Only the nine digits. Include the RR and the four digits that follow.
- Spaces or dashes. Type the number as one string, like the example.
- A typo. The form checks that the number is there, but it doesn't check the digits against a list of charities, so whatever you type is what prints. Compare it with your registration letter before you generate.
- A different kind of number. A U.S. EIN does not belong here.
U.S. nonprofits
If you are a U.S. nonprofit, use the U.S. site. There is a link under this field on the English form, Create a U.S. receipt instead.
