Payment and credit problems
Updated
You buy credits and passes on the Credits page, or from the Account & Credits box on the form pages. You must be signed in. Payment is by card only.
My card was declined
The pop-up says Payment Failed and gives the reason from the card payment service, such as an incorrect card number, insufficient funds or a declined card. Nothing is added to your account.
- Check the card number, expiry date and security code.
- Try another card. Your bank may also decline an online payment, so you may need to ask them to allow it.
- Try again.
On the French site the pop-up title reads Échec du paiement. The reason from the card payment service may still be in English.
I paid, but my credits don't show
Credits are added a few seconds after the payment succeeds. The page checks for a short time and then shows the balance it has.
- Wait a minute and reload the page.
- Check you are signed in with the same account and on the same site where you paid. See Sign-in problems. Accounts on freecharityreceipts.ca and freecharityreceipts.com are separate, and so are their credits.
- Look at Credits: N in the Account & Credits box. An active pass shows how many days are left.
- If your card was charged and nothing has appeared after a few minutes, email hello@freecharityreceipts.ca with your account email, the date and the amount.
I can't buy a pass
You can have one pass at a time. While a pass is active, wait until it ends before buying another. See Credits and passes.
A receipt says I don't have enough credits
You need 1 credit for a cash receipt and 2 for a gift-in-kind, a gift with advantage or a correction. A message says how many you need and how many you have. A pass covers Create, Bulk and corrections. It doesn't cover the NationBuilder integration, which has its own organization credits.
Refunds
Credits are non-refundable. Buy only what you need. A pass is a one-time payment and doesn't renew itself.
A receipt for my purchase
When you pay, your account email is given as the address for the payment receipt. Check your inbox and spam folder. If you can't find it, email hello@freecharityreceipts.ca with your account email, the date and the amount.
